Hotels in Skyros
The island has few hotels, so most visitors to Skyros take private rooms. The best are in the upper part of Skyros town, away from the bus stop, where women in black dresses accost you with cries of "Room! Room!" If you want to make arrangements before arriving, you could phone or fax the Skyros Association of Hotels and Rooms (tel. 22220/92-095; fax 22290/92-770). It is better to wait until you are on the scene and contact Skyros Travel and Tourism. The island of Skyros is somewhat more primitive in its facilities than the other Sporades, so before agreeing to anything, check out the room to ensure that it's what you want.
