Things To Do in Sobaeksan National Park

Sobaeksan National Park Attractions

Birosa (Biro Temple)

Birosa is a temple which sits to the east, just below Birobong, the highest peak in the mountain range. Very little remains of this former Shilla Dynasty temple -- just a stone marker and its flagpole supports -- but the area is lovely. A waterfall lies just about 1.5km (1 mile) from the temple site. The trail from Samga-li goes past the temple en route to the top of Birobong and takes about 4 hours.

Choamsa (Choam Temple)

North of Birosa in the next valley over is Choamsa, just above the village of Sunheung, which they claim is the birthplace of Goryeo King Chungyeol. The Choamsa trail, which runs from the park entrance through the Jukgye Valley to Gungmangbong and back, takes about 6 hours and is one of the prettiest in the park.
