Faggetai

Just a few kilometers following the panoramic road up the hill from the main square is the Faggeta, an area in the thick beech, chestnut and hazelnut forest which is the starting point for hiking trails as well as home to the Baita La Faggetta restaurant. Close by is an ancient natural phenomenon, the Sasso Naticarello, a huge boulder balancing on a flat rock plinth which Pliny the Elder described as a natural miracle. It is now a symbol of the Faggetta and the town of Soriano. Perfect for picnics, the Faggeta is also an excellent place to take a stroll after a long lunch.
