Hotels in Southern Oregon Coast
Rogue River Lodges
The Rogue is a fabled fishing and rafting river, and over the last century, fishing lodges have been built along the Rogue’s south bank in or near the wild and scenic stretch of the river. The lodges are a bit difficult to reach—sometimes accessible only by hiking or jet boat—and their season is limited, but you might want to consider staying at one of these unique and unforgettable spots. The lodges are typically fairly rustic and cater to people who are taking guided rafting trips down the Rogue, or serve as overnight stopovers along the rafting trips.. Three good lodges to consider are Cougar Lane Lodge, 4219 Agness Rd. (tel. 541/247-7233); Lucas Pioneer Ranch & Fishing Lodge, 3904 Cougar Lane (www.lucaslodgeoregon.com; tel. 541/247-7443); and Half Moon Bar Lodge, 3140 Juanipero Way (www.thehalfmoonbarlodge.com; tel. 541/842-2821).
Campgrounds
Cape Blanco State Park is the most popular camping spot in this area, and reservations aren't accepted for campsites. However, there are some basic cabins here that can be reserved through ReserveAmerica (tel. 800/452-5687; www.reserveamerica.com).
Up the Rogue River between Gold Beach and Agness, you'll find two campgrounds: Lobster Creek and Quosatana (for both: tel. 541/247-3600; www.fs.fed.us/r6/rogue-siskiyou).
The best base for exploring the scenic wonders of Samuel H. Boardman State Scenic Corridor is Harris Beach State Park (tel. 800/551-6949 or 541/469-2021; www.oregon.gov/oprd/parks), on the beach just north of Brookings. Up North Bank Chetco River Road out of Brookings, you'll find Alfred A. Loeb State Park (tel. 800/551-6949 or 541/469-2021 for information, or 800/452-5687 for reservations; www.oregon.gov/oprd/parks), which is set amid redwood and myrtle trees along the banks of the beautiful Chetco River.

Ireland’s Rustic Lodges & Gold Beach Inn
I love these charming little cabins built in 1936, because they remind me of what the entire Oregon coast used to be like before modern motels, hotels, and luxury resorts sprang up. The cabins couldn’t be simpler or cuter, with a double bed in an alcove, a couple of easy chairs, a…$$$Gold Beach - Hotel
Jot’s Resort
Families and travelers on a budget who want a water view and some extra amenities will enjoy Jot’s. The views here are not of the ocean but the mighty Rogue River, its historic bridge, and the fishing and jet boats that make their way up and down the river. This is a motel-style…$Gold Beach - Hotel
Tu Tu’ Tun Lodge
If we had a four-star rating, I’d give it to Tu Tu’ Tun. For a truly memorable southern Oregon experience, this sublime lodge on the sublimely beautiful Rogue River, 7 miles east of Gold Beach, can’t be beat. Designed by architects, and open since 1970, Tu Tu’ Tun’s rooms all have…$$$Gold Beach
