Hotels in Spetses
The former Hotel Poseidonion (www.poseidonion.com; tel. 22980/74-553), now justifiably called the Poseidon Grand Hotel, situated on the harbor and impossible to miss, reopened in 2009 after renovations so extensive that they constituted rebirth. It's not, repeat not, cheap, but what a great splurge to stay in this glorious 55-room grand hotel, now merging modern luxury and convenience with Belle Epoque elegance. Of course, there's a spa, a trendy Japanese restaurant, and what the hotel describes as a "lavish" breakfast buffet. High season doubles start from 240€, suites from 562€; "super" high season (Aug. and holidays) doubles start from 300€, suites from 711€; excellent off-season prices are often available.
