How many hotels can boast that you can view rocket launches from their rooms? Hilton Cocoa Beach can, with views of the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station. The renovated rooms at this seven-story Hilton lack balconies or patios; instead, they have small, sealed windows. Yes, it’s a little frustrating, but it’s nothing an elevator ride down can’t help. While rooms lack an ocean breeze, they are clean and Hilton-haute, if that’s not an oxymoron (that is, cookie-cutter, chain chic), within close proximity to the ocean. The oceanfront pool deck has a small heated pool and tiki bar and really, what more can you ask for? There’s also an on-site restaurant that’s nothing to write home about, but what’s really impressive about the place is the staff. Professional, attentive, and accommodating, they almost make up for the lack of balconies. This hotel is popular with pre- and post-cruise passengers and serves as an unofficial hub for Disney Cruise Line passengers, which means kids, lots of them. The hotel is very kid-friendly, so if you’re looking for a quiet place from which to experience rockets and fireworks, this isn’t it.
