A major refurbishment and an almost imperceptible name change (from Hotel Le Village St-Jean) have only underscored the excellent value and laid-back pleasures of this hotel, owned and operated by the same hospitable family for 40 years. A collection of breezy and beautifully furnished cottages and villas, LeVillage has a charmed hillside location a 5-minute (downhill) stroll from the beach and boîtes of St-Jean. What's utterly new is the makeover of the original family home into the open-plan Villa Catherine, a witty pop art playhouse that's an homage to all things Warhol and Polaroid. Each of the cottages and villas has been redone, some in pastel hues, others in richly saturated Creole colors, all with oak furniture, terracotta floors, and well-equipped kitchens or kitchenettes. Rooms flow into private sun porches or terraces, celebrating the subtropical indoor/outdoor life. Many folks prefer the views of the cottages on the property's upper tier, but you can get splendid sea and mountain vantages just by splashing around in the hotel's infinity pool.
