Small, choice, and peaceful, this boutique all-inclusive resort has a lovely hillside location overlooking Bonaire Bay. It just seems to get everything right, from the personalized service from a crackerjack staff to the spacious and smart-looking cottages and villas, many with private plunge pools, hammocks, and outdoor rain showers, to the fresh and flavorful food at the resort restaurant, Windsong. Calabash is welcoming to both twosomes and families, but with just 26 rooms, it has the private, romantic feel of a couples' retreat and may not be the best choice for a big, boisterous family—although the resort does designate specific sections and rooms, like the Swim-Up Suites, as adults-only. You'll be just feet from the sand in the wonderful Balinese-style Water's Edge Cottages, but if you prefer panoramic views, opt for the buildings on the hill adjacent to the restaurant.
