This luscious strand of powdery white sand (reputedly imported from Guyana) occupies a sweet spot in the cleft of the twin Pitons. Beneath a large thatched-roofed palapa, in the shade of palm and almond trees, the glorified beach bar/restaurant Bayside was a popular place when it was part of the Jalousie Plantation resort; now that Jalousie Plantation has been rebranded as Viceroy's Sugar Beach, the luxe factor has been dialed up and so have the prices. But the vibe is still stylishly casual and altogether fine. Pizzas roll out of the wood-fired oven, and a range of gourmet cocktails (herbaceous mojitos, fruity margaritas) make this is an ideal spot for a special-occasion drink.
