Every Friday night, the Gros Islet Street Party—aka the "Jump-Up"— draws crowds of locals and visitors alike for pulsing calypso, reggae, rap, and zouk music; street vendors selling jerk chicken, barbecued ribs, fish, and more; and copious amounts of Piton beer, rum punch, or whatever your personal poison may be, sold at the bars lining the cordoned-off streets of Gros Islet. It's a good-time party leavened by a laid-back island vibe, often going into Saturday's wee hours.
