This museum is perfect for understanding the history and commercial importance of St-Malo. The buildings themselves, the keep and gatehouse of the Château de St-Malo, add to the experience. Exhibits use artifacts, ship models, and imagery to tell the stories of the city’s most famous citizens—Chateaubriand, Jacques Cartier, and the privateers Duguay-Trouin and Surcouf. A section is reserved for photos of the extensive damage the city incurred during World War II.
