An Art Deco charmer, this updated 1930’s era hotel like it was ripped straight off of Ocean Drive in Miami Beach. Rooms are small but stylish, with pops of color (royal blue or deep red), bureaus that look like old fashioned steamer trunks, and an overhead fan lazily rotating (there’s A/C, so this is just for the look). Beds are comfy. Guests get cookies upon check-in, and wine in the airy lobby from 5 to 8pm nightly. All can use the amenities, including the fabulous pool, at Avalon’s sister hotel right next door, The Hollander.
