Although the vibe at this hip, downtown Mexican restaurant is unpretentious, the food’s good enough to have a bit of attitude. Salsa and guacamole are made fresh and are addictive, as is the stuffed shrimp with chipotle sauce. The Grouper Al Mojo De Ajo sautéed with garlic, tomato, parsley, and chile arbol is a refreshing, spicy twist on our favorite Florida grouper. In fact, a lot of the menu is more creative than the typical Mexican combo-plate fare; we doubt you’ll see duck enchiladas and filet mignon chimichurri at your corner Mexican joint! They also have an excellent mofongo, which is actually a Puerto Rican specialty of pork and chimichurri. We threw in an extra star for the restaurant’s amazing outdoor, brick-walled and fountained courtyard and friendly bar scene.
