Dolphin Bar & Shrimp House
Located on the Indian River’s edge, this historic waterfront seafood hot spot was built by Golden Age of Hollywood singer/actress, and Lakeland, Florida-born Frances Langford, and hosted such big names as Bob Hope in her day. (Langford passed away in 2005 at the age of 92). She was inspired by the restaurants of Hawaii, and the large dining room does have a whiff of Polynesia to it, even today. It has wide-ranging menu, from escargot and fried green tomatoes to shrimp & grits and pineapple pina colada coconut shrimp. Sunday brunch is especially popular, as is the daily 3 to 7pm happy hour where select appetizers and drinks are half off. There’s live music Wednesday through Sunday.
