The Tampa EDITION

The EDITION is a destination hotel, not a convention hub like the neighboring Marriotts. With a sleek, curvy exterior by celebrated architect Morris Adjmi, guestrooms are both Zen and sexy, with faux fur throws on the beds, and walls of windows. Their white oak floors and white walls are softened by black walnut accents. The lobby is a surreal take on a jungle, thanks to dozens of large potted plants bisected by a sculptural white spiral staircase. The five bars and restaurants on property are also high design scenes, from the Arts Club (a cocktail lounge swathed in red velvet, with a sea of disco balls on the ceiling) to the Punch Room (Caribbean cocktails, and again, lots of velvet, but this time in royal blue and neon green). Most coveted reservation here is at Lilac, a Mediterranean restaurant helmed by star chef John Fraser. A rooftop pool and bar underneath a canopy of bougainvillea and Japanese blueberry trees remind you that this isn’t Busch Gardens’ Tampa. The spa is also spectacular.
