The Pearl

While it may seem odd that a seafood import from Ohio, of all places, is one of Tampa’s best, but The Pearl is a midwestern jewel. Their massive menu includes snacks and starters like a zippy jalapeno corn spoon bread, chicken wing confit, and Thai curry mussels. The oyster menu is comprehensive and includes our fave, the N’awlins style baked oysters. This restaurant, in fact, reminds us of some of our favorite New Orleans oyster houses. A large menu of sandwiches includes phenomenal twist on the Cuban, with pork confit, sweet garlic pickles, smoked gouda, mustard, and black bean stew. Entrees include shrimp and grits with kielbasa, poblano peppers, and gouda cheese grits—omg—and pork piri piri—a confit pork shoulder with mussels, redskin potato, aioli, and a chorizo broth. Brunch is equally tempting—try the pork cheek hash. Ohio, we hardly knew ye. Now we love ye.
