Anastasia

In 2014, two friends, an architect and a restaurateur, decided to open Tel Aviv’s first vegan café with the hope that the city would learn to love the power of the plant. Turns out, they were right. Since it took up residence in a Bauhaus-style building just minutes from Dizengoff Square, Anastasia has received award after award for its restorative shakes, its vegan versions of the typically egg-based Israeli breakfast, and its varied Indian- and Asian-inspired dishes. Especially beloved is the soba salad, topped with cauliflower, kale, cashew cream and a spicy almond crumble; as is the vegan cheese plate, which includes a vegan labaneh and feta. If you come outside of the lunch rush hour, grab a spot at the comfortable veranda couches, where the staff will be happy to have you linger for as long as you wish. You can take home the café’s legendary cheesecake, sweet potato quiche, and other homemade vegan products from the mini grocery store, or, if you’re planning to head to the southern end of town, pop by the deli at Yad Harutzim 15 for more options.
