M25

This carnivore's paradise serves up quintessential Israeli staples in a former market stall just off the main street of the crowded Carmel Market. It’s named after its location: 25 meters from the high-end butcher that supplies its dishes—the first clue as to how seriously these people take their meat. The tables and chairs are wooden and one of the few items of decoration are the meat smoker and the fridge displaying the many choice cuts of meat used for popular dishes, from the hefty aray’es appetizer, a crunchy  toasted pita stuffed with charred minced lamb, to the perfectly smoked shawarma, served on a bed of tahini, and virtually any cut of meat you can imagine. To get to this restaurant you need to cross through the market side alley, behind the many stalls, so be aware that you might need to step over a good amount of trash, like pieces of discarded raw meat or fish, which for some only adds to this place’s authentic and gritty charm but for others might be unappetizing. For a more sanitized experience, you can visit M25’s Ramat Aviv outpost, located at 15 Brodetsky Street, not far from the swanky Ramat Aviv Mall.
