Don't expect structures similar to Egypt's pyramids; these are related to South America's step polyhedrons and are a source of heated debate on Tenerife. Adventurer Thor Heyerdahl claimed that the six rectangular pyramids were constructed by the island's original inhabitants, the Guanche and built an ethnological park to conserve and exhibit them. Skeptics say they're just a pile of farmers' rubble. Visit the park and judge for yourself. As well as the pyramids, the park has other attractions including replicas of reed boats Kon Tiki and Ra, exhibition centers and attractive gardens ideal for pondering these ancient or not so ancient mysteries.
