Hotels in The Cinque Terre
There have always been quite a few affittacamere (room rentals) in the various Cinque Terre towns, but getting information on them meant having local contacts and relying on word of mouth. Now that local room and apartment owners have gotten more Internet savvy, finding rentals online has become much easier, even aside from www.airbnb.com, which does have many listings in each of the five towns. For a room with private bathroom for two people, expect to pay anywhere from 70€ to 150€ per night depending on the season and the amenities offered. L’Ancora (www.lancoracinqueterre.net) in Riomaggiore has three rooms (with private bath) in an ancient Ligurian building, with traditional elements like wood beams and exposed bricks, but very modern bathrooms. The room on the top floor has a small kitchenette (the owners specify it is to be used for making breakfast only). In the heart of Vernazza, Memo Rooms (www.memorooms.com) are three simple yet elegant rooms with private bath.
Manarola’s Ostello 5 Terre (Via Riccobaldi 21; www.hostel5terre.it; tel. 0187-920-039) offers cheap accommodations: 20€ to 30€ for beds in six-bed dorm rooms; the hostel also has private doubles, triples, and six-bed family rooms. The hostel has a bar, a buffet breakfast, and Internet access. Especially in high season, it is necessary to book at least a week in advance.

Barbara
Not many cheap sleeps in the Cinque Terre come with views and free Wi-Fi, but the Barbara is such a place. The simple, zen-like rooms here, on the upper floors of a no-elevator palazzo, are decorated sparingly with natural fibers and traditional folk motifs. Many of the rooms do…$Around town - B&B

Hotel Porto Roca
Considered the Cinque Terre’s only resort, this 4-star hotel is spectacularly positioned upon the cliffside overlooking the village, cemetery, and blue sea below. The addition of a pool and spa have helped make it the most expensive accommodations in the area, too. Most of the rooms…$$$Around Town - B&B
Il Giardino Incantato
Its name means "The Enchanted Garden," and its garden is in fact one of the major selling points of this romantic bed-and-breakfast set in a restored 16th-century Ligurian house. The garden, a ridiculously romantic, walled affair with lush Mediterranean plants and flowers, is open…$$Around town - Hotel
La Mala
A bit of “beach chic” has come to Vernazza with the stylish four-room locanda. The rooms are not large but they are well-designed and -equipped, sunny, and come with great views (sea, village, and/or harbor view). Bathrooms are clean and modern. Room 26 has a small living area and is…$$Around Town - Hotel
La Torretta
Besides La Mala in Vernazza, this charming establishment is perhaps the only other “chic retreat” in the Cinque Terre. La Torretta offers lovely rooms and suites in varied sizes, several with sea views and balconies, and all with nice in-room amenities (like choice toiletries). Our…$$$Around Town - Hotel
Marina Piccola
This is a "basic" hotel with unmistakably Italian flair—a petite property with straightforward accommodations and, oh, you know, a storybook location right on the water. The Marina Piccola occupies two small buildings overlooking Manarola's tiny harbor, and wears its…$$Around town - Hotel
Ostello Cinque Terre
Don’t expect luxury here, but a good clean bed and bath at more than reasonable prices make this hostel sell out weeks before the high season. Located in the center of town near the church, it’s a pleasant welcome in an area that has few budget accommodations.$Around Town - Hotel

Villa Steno
This small, family-run inn with views from almost every room is a cheerful option in Monterosso, the biggest and busiest of the five Cinque Terre villages. The hotel is located in town, not on the water, but its inland position is far enough back from the main tourist area (about…$$Around town
