Barbara

Not many cheap sleeps in the Cinque Terre come with views and free Wi-Fi, but the Barbara is such a place. The simple, zen-like rooms here, on the upper floors of a no-elevator palazzo, are decorated sparingly with natural fibers and traditional folk motifs. Many of the rooms do not have en-suite bathrooms, although most rooms do have a private bathroom located just outside the sleeping quarters (and all rooms have sinks). Attic rooms have slanted ceilings, which means low vertical clearance at one end of the room, but with rates at €70 or less per night for a double, budget-minded travelers may find that uneven rooms are just another of the Cinque Terre's charming quirks. The most expensive rooms—the doubles with harbor and sea views and en-suite bathroom—are still a bargain at €110. If you value quiet, take note: The hotel sits on the main square of Vernazza, one of the more relaxed and local-feeling Cinque Terre towns, but there are restaurants and bars nearby that can be lively until the wee hours, and the Barbara isn't sound-proofed.
