Il Giardino Incantato
Its name means "The Enchanted Garden," and its garden is in fact one of the major selling points of this romantic bed-and-breakfast set in a restored 16th-century Ligurian house. The garden, a ridiculously romantic, walled affair with lush Mediterranean plants and flowers, is open to guests throughout the day and evening for reading, sipping, and just generally absorbing the loveliness, and it's also the divine scene for breakfast, which you eat at tables set in their own little landscaped nooks. The four guest rooms are named after flowers and are decorated in a charming Italian-country style, with crisp, whitewashed walls contrasting against fanciful wrought-iron bed frames. In some units, deliberately exposed sections of masonry lend rustic warmth. All rooms come with bottomless baskets of complimentary fresh fruit and mini-fridges stocked with beverages such as homemade limoncello (also on the house). Nope, there are no sea views here, but that garden makes up for it, and the bed-and-breakfast's in-town location means you're mere steps from Monterosso's main square. Note also that the inn strives to maintain a quiet and romantic atmosphere, so it's better suited to couples than to families with young children. Closed Nov-Mar.
