In the heart of the financial district, this favorite among the corner-office set has seen many a seven-figure deal close over the course of lunch. Chef Brooke McDougall’s food is very Toronto, abiding by no single geographic anchor, with a menu ranging from steaks and snazzy seafood to internationally inspired fare. A cheeky plate of Fogo Island cod tempura with mango-vinaigrette-dressed cucumber slaw is just as fabulous as a by-the-book Italian bowl of rabbit ravioli. Even the steak tartare gets a multicultural infusion in the form of a kimchi kick. But it’s the burger topped with Brie de Meaux, shaved truffles, and grilled porcinis (well worth the $40 price tag) that has built a diehard following.
