This very popular delicatessen has its roots in colorful Kensington Market. Caplansky's grandmother sold corned beef sandwiches to workers from her Kensington area shop. Located a few steps away on College Street, as you enter you are faced with shelves of homemade pies and a wall of press clippings. This deli is best known for hand-cut smoked meat, and for generous servings. Sides range from deep-fried pickles to perogies. Craft beers are available on tap or in a bottle, plus wine, shots, and cocktails. There are lots of homemade deserts, from cheese cake to blintzes, but what really gets attention these days are the Beef Bacon Donuts. You get three the size of Timbits for $3. You can purchase their popular mustards (light to super spicy), and breakfast is served all day, but be careful of hours—it doesn't open until 11am on weekdays. For warm weather there's outdoor seating facing the side street.
