67km (42 miles) S of Puerto Madryn
Trelew's airport is the gateway to the region; many travelers pass through here on their way to and from the Península Valdés. The largest city in the region (pop. 100,000), Trelew is industrial and certainly not as charming at its neighbor Puerto Madryn. The town has a pleasant square and an excellent paleontological museum, but little else of interest. The nearby Welsh town, Gaiman, is worth an afternoon visit.
