The Oak & Star Tavern / The Plastered Owl
The Oak & Star Tavern, found between the portals for Super Nintendo World and Dark Universe, has a calm, casual vibe with a stylized treehouse theme, and between its menu of BBQ and its in-house bar area, The Plastered Owl, it doesn't need to fuss with gimmicks. It's a place that'll be either mostly empty or the secret spot where you'll find a gang of Orlando locals hanging out in between rides, nursing drafts that range from milk stout to IPAs to boozy cider. At peak hours, there may be acoustic live music on the modest stage beside the bar, or there's a roaring fire (behind glass, where it can't mess with the AC) to sit beside. Otherwise, you'll find it to be a low-key place to seek air conditioning and dig into barbecue like pulled pork, smoked brisket, smoked St. Louis ribs, cheddar jalapeno biscuits, and its standout side, mango bread.
Mango bread makes another appearance at breakfast (until 11am) as a mango bread brûlée, along with American morning standards like sausage and gravy, chorizo and eggs, eggs with corn fritters, and a few flavorful vegan and vegetarian options that treat the meatless diners with respect. The Oak & Star is Celestial Park's most casual restaurant that's the least likely to succumb to the chaos of your fellow family vacationers.
