Hotel One Shot Palacio Reina Victoria 04
One Shot Hotels take their name from the concept of a photograph capturing a moment in time: The neoclassical Palacio Reina Victoria captures the spirit of 1913, when a new king was trying to make Spain relevant to Europe again. The guest list has included everyone from that king, King Alfonso XIII, to bullfighter Manolete, Federico García Lorca, and Pablo Picasso. When the One Shot group took over in 2016, they renovated with wood, iron, and tile to update the original interiors by a full century. Rotating photo exhibitions in public spaces add to the ambience. Rooms remain small to mid-size but now have luxurious American mattresses. The central location—roughly equidistant to the Plaza de Toros and the cathedral—is definitely handy for sightseeing on foot.
