You can sleep like the Sun King at Versailles’ new Airelles Château de Versailles, Le Grand Contrôle hotel, set in three palatial 17th-century buildings on the château’s grounds. Each of the 14 rooms costs a pretty centime, but boy, are they special: busy French country–style decor with bold patterns, chandeliers, antique furniture, palatial bathrooms, and views over the Orangerie (the royal citrus grove). Food-wise, expect French classics with a modern twist, courtesy of celebrated French chef Alain Ducasse. There’s also a sumptuous spa by Valmont (famed for their cellular cosmetics).
