This place is legendary. Not only does it seat what seems like millions, it has been a beer hall since 1868. The Kolarik family, who now run the place, call it Vienna's biggest beer barrel and although that may be accurate (endless numbers of Krügerl, or large beers, are hauled past on massive trays) the food is very good too. The Schweinsstelzen (leg of pork) is served on the bone with a knife and cutting board as the only aid. Other top dishes include schnitzel, goulash, and Kartoffelpuffer (fried potato medallions) as well as homemade beer chocolate. A visit is in order after romping through the Prater.
