Planning a trip to Vienne

Getting There — Vienne is 20 min. away from Lyon by train (at Jean Mace or Part Dieu train stations). For information, visit www.oui.sncf or call tel. 36-35 (.40€/min.). The one-way train fare from Lyon is about 7€. If you’re driving from Lyon, take the A7.

Special Events — Vienne is alive with summer festivals. In the first 2 weeks of July, Vienne attracts some of the biggest names in jazz for the annual Festival du Jazz à Vienne. Tickets are 36€ and available online (www.jazzavienne.com; tel. 04-74-78-87-87). Vienne also has several historic festivals: a Gallo-Roman reenactment weekend in June where everyone gets dressed up for mock battles; a medieval reenactment weekend in early September and Vinalia, a Gallo-Roman grape harvest in late September.
