This locals' favorite overlooking the Lynnhaven River has also been attracting tourists' attention lately. It's clear why: the oysters, crabs, and fish are fresh and local and prepared simply but well. A casual place, it began small and it still looks small from the parking lot but it has expanded over time and in summer there are even tables on the docks so there is room for 550 people. (They take reservations for 15 or more.) Coming by boat? They'll bring the food right to you, no need to come ashore. Get the oyster stew. Sure, everything else is good, but if the oyster stew is available this is a perfect culinary tribute to the bivalve. Simple, with lots of fresh oysters and a touch of cream, onion, and bacon. The same menu is offered all day, with a few specials at dinnertime: salads, steamed shellfish, lobster mac-n-cheese, seafood, and steaks. Sandwiches and burgers are offered all day.
