The tiny island of Biševo is best known as the home of Blue Cave, a sea cave bathed in extraordinary blue and silver lights each day between 11am and noon. The cave, 5km (3 miles) southwest of Vis, is often compared to Capri’s Blue Grotto. Excursion boats leave Komiža harbor at 9am to make it to the cave in time for the light show, weather permitting. Several agencies in Komiža offer picnic tours, with lunch included—a reliable provider is Darlić & Darlić at Riva Sv. Mikule 13. Note that to enter the Blue Cave, you have to lie flat in a small boat as you pass through a narrow sea tunnel, an experience that those suffering from claustrophobia might wish to avoid.
