Owner Giacomo’s mom, Lucia, is in the kitchen of this neighborhood favorite in San Lazzero, just outside the walls a short walk from the Etruscan museum. She prepares a few daily choices that often include zuppa volterrana (bread and vegetable soup) and “baccalà rifatto” (pan-fried salted codfish stewed with tomatoes), along with pappardelle alla lepre (wide fettuccine with rabbit sauce) and other hearty pastas well suited to homey, stone-arched surroundings. Lucia also makes the jams that fill her delicious homemade tortes (cakes). A cafe in front serves coffee and pastries all day.
