Frommer's Staff

Dating from 1928, the 40-hectare (99-acre) compound is home to more than 280 species of animals from all corners of the globe. The most famous inhabitants are the bears, who look jaded from years of being the zoo's live advertisement in a concrete enclosure by the busy Solidarnosci Road. If you're not going to northeastern Poland, this is the place to see the European bison.
