The hassling from touts can be quite intense here, but the weekly Saturday souk is worth a stop. Local produce (this is a big fruit-growing region) and livestock sit side by side with dentists and barbers, and sometimes you'll come across a 500-strong mule "parking lot," each beast adorned with a thick, brightly colored saddle. Should you be headed for some serious trekking, this is also the best, and cheapest, time to stock up on supplies. Arrive early to avoid the busloads of day-tripping tourists.

Above the village are the lower, forested slopes of the limestone Kik Plateau, which is a great place for a walk, particularly in spring when nature lays down carpets of alpine flowers.
