The 11-story twin-tower pagoda in the heart of town is the Erqi Ta (Monument to the February 7 Workers' Uprising), which commemorates the February 7, 1923, strike on the Beijing-Hankou rail line against the warlord authorities. The workers were fighting for their rights, but the uprising was bloodily suppressed.
Zhengzhou Nightlife
Target Pub (Mubiao Jiuba) at the south end of Jing Liu Lu (tel. 0138/038-57056), is a cool place for those in the know. You can actually have a conversation here or simply sit at the bar and let Lao Wang regale you with tales of off-roading in Lhasa, Mongolia, and the Gobi Desert.
