This elegant restaurant, cafe, and bar -- called "Salt and Tobacco" in English -- is popular with an artsy crowd from the nearby Kreuzberg galleries. The restaurant has large windows in its bar and cafe up front facing the street. In the rear is a high-ceilinged dining room opening onto a Mediterranean courtyard. The establishment is in the Rudi-Dutschke Haus, and is owned by the leftist newspaper Tageszeitung.

The restaurant serves Italian specialties that are a delight to the palate, including zuppa di pesca (fish soup). This might be followed by some of Berlin's best antipasti, including shellfish or perhaps zucchini stuffed with ricotta and served with a tomato cream sauce.
