Karl Wannemacher is one of the most outstanding chefs in eastern Germany. Known for his quality market-fresh ingredients, he prepares a seductively sensual plate. Everything shows his flawless technique, especially the potato-crusted sea bass with a spinach-and-balsamic vinegar sauce, or the roast duck breast with a honey-and-chili sauce. Filet of beef is delectably flavored with a mustard-seed sauce, and poultry breast comes with a Périgord truffle sauce. Featured desserts include a bread roll stuffed with Armagnac mousse served with Armagnac ice cream and spicy prune, or else chocolate soup with a nougat macaroon and mocha ice cream. Alt-Luxemburg offers a finely balanced wine list, and service is both unpretentious and gracious.
