Frommer's Review
This hotel lies on a dignified street in the commercial heart of the city and dates from 1991, when it was built in the classic Bauhaus style beloved by so many Germans. As a Relais & Châteaux property, it offers better food and service than most hotels of its price range. Rooms range from medium size to spacious and are among the most stylish in the city. The decor, with torchier lamps, black-leather upholstery, and platform beds, may appear a touch minimalist, but everybody will appreciate the original artworks that adorn the walls. Another bonus is the state-of-the-art security system and the French doors that open up onto balconies on all but the top floor. The spacious bathrooms have large tub/shower combos, plenty of shelf space, and scales. Housekeeping here is among the finest in Berlin. A popular gathering place for guests is the hotel's Wintergarten, an unusual combination of an Italian monastery garden and a Japanese garden.
