Frommer's Review
The Regent and Westin Grand are finer hotels, attracting some of the Hilton's former clients, but this durable landmark remains strong. Set within one of the city's most expensive and desirable neighborhoods, Gendarmenmarkt, this deluxe hotel was the first to open in what was East Berlin following the collapse of the Berlin Wall. Today, it's the third-largest hotel in the city and one of the most popular, with enough accessories and facilities within its seven floors to keep you busy for a week. Thanks to all the visual distraction in the lobby, you may even have a vague sense that you're in a resort hotel that's eager to meet the needs of both large groups and business travelers. Rooms are conservatively modern and very comfortable, with double-glazed windows, comfortable beds, bedside controls, and well-equipped bathrooms, most with tub/shower combos. At least half overlook the twin churches of the dramatic Gendarmenmarkt.
