Frommer's Review
This hotel lacks the historical pedigree of its major competitor, the rebuilt Adlon , but The Regent is Berlin's most sumptuous address. One of Berlin's most opulent hotels, it was built in 1996 on the site of a bombed-out parking lot, about a block from the Gendarmenmarkt. From the look of things, you'd never realize the venue is modern, as everything about it evokes Versailles and an undeniable sense of well-established and very plush prosperity. Decor, illuminated with light from two separate courtyards, includes Viennese crystal chandeliers and antiques from throughout Europe, giving you the sense that you've entered a private and very upscale home. Rooms are furnished with timeless taste and elegance, with very large bathrooms, each with walk-in showers, deep tubs, and a relentlessly upscale selection of toiletries.
