Frommer's Review
This is a more luxe version of Art'otel. Set about a block from Unter den Linden, this hotel was built as an avant-garde architectural showcase in the mid-1970s by the then-East German government. Today, despite frequent renovations, it still evokes a jazzy, moderno, and vaguely dated kind of architecture that features lots of chrome and stainless steel. There's a bustle here, however, thanks in part to a hardworking and polite staff, and a regular clientele of business clients and conventioneers. Avant-garde artwork is exhibited throughout, and Philippe Starck created some of the furniture. Rooms are individually designed, soothing, uncluttered, and comfortable.
Facilities:
3 restaurants; bar; indoor heated pool; fitness studio; sauna; solarium; room service; babysitting; laundry service; dry cleaning; nonsmoking rooms; rooms for those w/limited mobility

| 2 stars | Frommer's Very Highly Recommended | |
| 3 stars | Frommer's Exceptional |
Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
