With its Andy Warhol-inspired decor, this hotel stands in what used to be a Cold War no man's land. The Mitte district, now a hotbed of trendy expansion, instantly became hipper when this winner opened to acclaim and immediate bookings. Enveloped by a vibrant artist and designer scene, the hotel lies right in the midst of some of Mitte's hippest cafes, bars, and restaurants. Its glass facade conceals a comfortably modern hotel that employs minimalist design and innovative concepts in its use of modern equipment, soft furnishings, and tasteful materials. All the beautifully designed bedrooms are stylish and inviting, with state-of-the-art bathrooms with all the latest in modern plumbing. The on-site restaurant, Lutter & Wegner, is run by Joe Laggner, a legendary star of Austrian innkeeping, and he serves a sublime regional cuisine. That's not all: The Velvet Bar is as hip as Paris Hilton and is a Mitte hot spot, known for its to-die-for cocktails.
