Located a few miles from Mabou in the undistinguished oceanside fishing village of Port Hood, Haus Treuburg is a handsome Queen Anne-style home dating from 1914. The three guest rooms in the main building (one is a suite) are nicely furnished in a spare style, with down duvets and a lot of wood. As nice as they are, though, the better deals are the small two-bedroom cottages behind the house, each with a private deck, an ocean view, and a gas barbecue. German and Italian specialties are featured in the two downstairs dining rooms. Dinner is served at one seating, and it might include beef stroganoff with spaetzle, or lobster bordelaise on homemade fettuccine. Four-course meals are about C$30 to C$34 (US$27-US$31/£15-£17) prix fixe. The German "Sunday morning breakfast" is available every morning.
