NightlifeMost of the music and dance venues are along Avenida Rafael Melgar. Carlos 'n' Charlie's (tel. 987/869-1648, -1646), which is in the Punta Langosta shopping center, is practically next to Señor Frog's (tel. 987/869-1650). Punta Langosta is just south of Calle 7 Sur. The Hard Rock Cafe (tel. 987/872-5271) is also on Avenida Rafael Melgar, at #2, just north of the municipal pier. In town, there are a few Latin music clubs. These open and close with every high season. They do well when people have cash in their pockets, but then they have to close down when the flow of tourism stops bringing in money. There's a sports bar at the corner of Avenida 5 and Calle 2 Norte called All Sports Bar (tel. 987/869-2246), which operates as a salsa club Thursday to Saturday from 10pm to 3am. So go for sports, stay for salsa. Also, there's a working-class nightclub on Avenida Juárez, between avenidas 25 and 30, called Los Delfines (no phone), which puts on drag shows from Thursday to Sunday. These start around 11pm. On Sunday evenings, the place to be is the main square, which usually has a free concert and lots of people strolling about and visiting with friends. The town of San Miguel has three movie theaters. Your best option is Cinépolis, the modern multicinema in the Chedraui Plaza Shopping Center at the south end of town. It mainly shows Hollywood movies. Most of these are in English with Spanish subtitles (película subtitulada); before buying your tickets, make sure the movie hasn't been dubbed (doblada).
