A 10-minute walk from the town's historic core to the Pointe du Moulinet encircles most of the old town and encompasses views as far away as St-Malo.
Beaches & Swimming
Dinard's main beach is Plage de l'Ecluse or La Grande Plage, the strip of sand between the peninsulas that defines the edges of the old town. Favored by families and vacationers, it's crowded on hot days. Smaller and more isolated is Plage de St-Enogat (you pass through the village of St-Enogat on the 20-min. hike east from Dinard). Plage du Prieuré, a 10-minute walk from the center, has many trees that shade the sand. Because there's such a difference between high and low tides, the municipality has built swimming pool-style basins along the Plage de L'Ecluse and the Plage du Prieuré beaches to catch seawater during high tide. Most people trek along the salt flats at low tide to bathe in the sea.
Looking for a pool that's covered, heated, filled with seawater, and open year-round? Head for the Piscine Olympique, boulevard du Président-Wilson (tel. 02-99-46-22-77), next to the casino. Entrance is 4.50€ ($6.60) for adults, 3.50€ ($5.10) for children 5 to 16, and free for children 4 and under. From July to mid-September, it's open Monday through Saturday 10am to 12:30pm and 3 to 7:30pm, Sunday 10am to 12:30pm and 3 to 6:30pm. The rest of the year, it runs on a varying schedule according to the needs of school groups and swim teams.
Golf
About 8km (5 miles) west of Dinard at St-Briac is one of the finest courses in Brittany, the par-68, 18-hole Le Dinard Golf (tel. 02-99-88-32-07). It's on sandy terrain studded with tough grasses and durable trees and shrubs. Greens fees are 45€ to 75€ ($65-$109), depending on the season. It rents clubs -- though it's wiser to bring your own -- as well as carts.
