St. Saviour is one of a very few Dubrovnik structures that survived the 1667 earthquake. It was built in the early 16th century by Petar Andrijic of Korcula and its Renaissance-Gothic facade faces the larger Onofrio fountain inside the Pile Gate. Some say its design was influenced by Sibenik's UNESCO World Heritage cathedral. It is certain, however, that St. Saviour influenced several Dalmatian churches, most notably the cathedral of Hvar. St. Saviour is no longer used for Mass. The church's interior has been recently restored.
