Hotel More

You'll have to climb a steep hill to get to this intimate boutique hotel carved into a cliff near the tip of Lapad, but you won't regret the effort. Perhaps it's because the More is classy without being stuffy, or perhaps it's because of the staff's welcoming attitude. Either way, the More is one of Dubrovnik's hidden treasures, an all-new hotel built on the footprint of a former Socialist getaway in pine-scented surroundings that open to the Adriatic. Hotel More opened in 2008 loaded with high-style, modern conveniences, and a world-class restaurant (The More). Most rooms have balconies with sea views on three sides; all are loaded with creature comforts, and all are capsules of privacy. There is a small pool on the fifth-floor terrace balcony, but it is the numerous stone staircases leading to the beach rocks and sea below that are most enchanting.

Tip: Igor of customer relations told us the builders discovered a natural cave 23m (75 ft.) beneath the hotel's foundation, and it currently is being transformed into a private room for dinners and wine tastings.
