Hellenia Yachting Club

Set in the heart of Giardini-Naxos, closer to the town's bars than some of its competitors, this is a gracefully modern hotel whose public areas have some of the most lavish marble decoration anywhere, often with classical Greek touches. Built in 1978 and radically upgraded in 2004, it features a sun terrace (with a pleasant but not overly large pool) and black-lava steps that descend to a private gravel beach. The place has the aura of a private club -- perhaps one in Greece that welcomes a nautically minded British clientele. Be warned that guest rooms are not as opulent as the lobby would imply. They have a sparsely furnished, somewhat cold decor, with hints of 18th-century French styling.
