The Prince George Hotel ReviewThis contemporary and large downtown hotel features understated styling, polished wainscoting, carpeting, and the discreet use of marble, though it still feels a bit sterile and stuffy. In any case, expect modern and comfortably appointed rooms, all with a selection of complimentary tea and coffee, coffeemakers, and hair dryers. This hotel is nicely situated near the Citadel and restaurants and is linked to much of the rest of downtown via underground passageways; parking is beneath the hotel. The hotel's Gio restaurant on the first floor features contemporary bistro styling, with a zippy menu to match: Dinner options have included Kobe burgers, crab club sandwiches, stuffed chicken, Thai noodles, elk (!) tenderloin, grilled tuna, steak frites, and haddock in an almond-butter sauce. If you're in town on a Sunday, an attractive and popular Sunday brunch is served at the hotel's Terrace restaurant for C$30 per person -- reservations are required. Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
